Hi, I'm Evan Tanner 👋

I am a highly skilled high-school programmer proficient in PHP web app development, with years of expertise working with the most popular web technologies like jQuery and Bootstrap.

I am ninth-grade student with a passion for programming. My skills mainly lie in PHP and HTML5, plus a strong foundation in CSS3 and JavaScript. My technical toolkit includes frameworks and libraries like Bootstrap, Laravel, and jQuery, allowing me to create dynamic and responsive web applications. I am well-versed in various technologies like as PWA, SPA, AJAX, REST, CSP, and JSON. I follow the latest tech news to make sure I stay at the forefront of the latest web technologies.

Apart from my tech skills, I actively contribute to my school and the local community through Conceita, a non-profit organization I founded in 2016 when I began my journey to learn programming. We are dedicated to providing free software solutions for both teachers and students. Over the years, we have grown to include a team of 17 volunteers, and I continue to oversee and contribute to all aspects of operations. Aside from coding, I have skills in project and team leadership, UI/UX design, and even provide teaching other students the basics of how code works. I am an active member and the elected chapter treasurer of Business Professionals of America (BPA) chapter at my school.

I have earned accolades such as being a TSA State Finalist in "Inventions and Innovations." I have demonstrated my skills through the new LinkedIn Skill Assessment program, ranking in the top 5% for PHP and HTML5 among a 4.5 million participants. I actively share my knowledge by co-teaching a class on web development essentials at the middle school level.

    • 2016

      2016 - 2018
      When I was just 7 years old, I started learning how to code. I started with HTML and CSS. If I'm being honest, I was terrible at developing websites. I thought I had no potential but I wasn't ready to give up. This was also the year I founded Conceita, my non-profit organization that provides free software solutions for teachers and students. However, at this point Concieta was just a basic landing page made in Google Sites with no purpose what so ever.

    • 2018

      2018 - 2020
      I persisted my journey to learn how to code. I tried to use online tutorials and the provided resources at my school were not working for me. I decided to teach myself how to code from scratch. I essentially gave up my social life but was able to make some progress and begin JavaScript.

    • 2020

      2020-2023
      After years of learning the essentials of web development and the creation of some really cool static websites, I decided to start learning PHP. I started with the basics and eventually moved on to more advanced topics (like OOP!). My first real web app was a social networking platform for students at my middle school based off of an open source PHP script. I was able to get around 20% of the entire student population to join and it was a great learning experience. I have since created many more web apps and I am always learning new things.

    • 2023

      2023 - present After using Laravel for a few years and getting to the know other languages more fluently, I now teach other students how to code. I also run a non-profit organization that provides free software solutions for teachers and students. I am also a member of Business Professionals of America (BPA) and I am the elected chapter treasurer at my school.

    • PHP - I have been using it for years and I am very familiar with it. I use it as my primary driver to create many projects, including this website. I am very familiar with the Laravel framework and I use it for most of my projects as well as PHPDoc and Composer.
    • HTML/CSS - I have been using the foundations of the web for years. In fact, I have even taught middle school students the basics of HTML and CSS. I am very familiar with the Bootstrap framework plus SASS and use them for most of my projects.
    • Bootstrap - Every good website needs a good design framework. Over the years, I've used the latest versions of Bootstrap. I have knowlege in Bootstrap 3, 4, and 5, and I use them for most of my projects.
    • Laravel - I am a huge Laravel fan and have experience with most products in the Laravel ecosystem. Most of my web apps I have created use Laravel as the backend framework. I am familiar with Laravel 5.4 through the latest Laravel 10.
    • Apache2/Linux - I have been using Apache2 and Linux for years. I have mainly experience with Ubuntu. I have also used Apache2 for years and I am very familiar with it.
    • MariaDB/MySQL - Relational databases are the backbone of most web apps. I have used MariaDB and MySQL for years and I am very familiar with them. I have used them for most of my projects.
    • Graphic Design - I have designed countless graphics for other and for my projects. I am very familiar with Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator. I have used them for years and I am very familiar with them.
    • JavaScript - To power all of my websites, I use JavaScript. I am very familiar with the jQuery library and I use it for most of my projects. I am also familiar with the Vue.js framework and I use it for a few of my projects.
    • Git - I employ Git across all my projects, demonstrating a high level of proficiency. Additionally, I am well-versed in utilizing GitHub and GitLab, incorporating them into the majority of my endeavors.
    • SEO - With years of experience in Search Engine Optimization (SEO), I consistently apply this knowledge to most of my projects. Furthermore, I am adept at using tools such as Google Analytics and Google Search Console in conjunction with my work.
    • CRUD - My extensive experience with CRUD spans several years, making it a fundamental aspect of my project development. Additionally, I am acquainted with the Model-View-Controller (MVC) design pattern, integrating it into the majority of my projects.
    • REST - I have been utilizing JSON APIs for an extended period, incorporating them into the fabric of most of my projects. Moreover, my familiarity with the REST design pattern is evident in its consistent application across my work.
    • SCRUM - Employing SCRUM methodologies for an extended duration, I am highly proficient in its application throughout my projects. Furthermore, my knowledge extends to the Agile development methodology, which I consistently integrate into my work.
    • UI/UX - I have been designing user interfaces and user experiences for years. I am very familiar with Adobe XD and Figma. Before Adove XD was discontinued, I used it for most of my projects. Now, I use Figma for most of my projects.
